Portsmouth School Department bus schedules for the 2026–2027 school year are now posted. Opening day for grades K through 9 is Thursday, August 28, 2026, and all students report on Friday, August 29, 2026.
School hours for the upcoming year are 7:25 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. for Portsmouth High School, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for Portsmouth Middle School, and 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. for both Melville Elementary School and Hathaway Elementary School.
All bus arrival times are approximate, and routes or times are subject to change. Parents are advised to have their students at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the stated arrival time. All kindergarten students should board regularly scheduled school buses. Students attending the Newport Area Career and Technical Center will be picked up with the Portsmouth High School routes and transferred at Portsmouth High School to a designated shuttle bus. First Student will directly notify students with disabilities who cannot ride regular buses of their scheduled pickup time.
