Science Olympiad Team

Advisor: Mr. Holstein

The Science Olympiad is a national program that was created to increase interest in science. The Science Olympiad aims to teach science by involving students in active, hands-on activities that emphasize problem solving and the scientific process. In the Rhode Island state competition, which will be held on April 18th, 2015 at Rhode Island College, winners of individual events win athletic-style medals, with winning teams earning trophies. This year there will be 22 events ranging in topics from Life Science, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, Practices in Science and especially Engineering.  This year, Portsmouth High School will have over 15 participants competing for medals in all 22 events.  Also, the Engineering Club led by Mr. Angers will help the team by designing and testing all the Engineering related devices so our school can compete at the highest level.  If you are interested in being on this team, please join us every week in Room B2 and help us be an innovative and engaging club so Portsmouth can be one of the top teams in this year's competition!
