Aspen Student Portal Information

About the Student Portal

To log in to Aspen, please click the Aspen icon in the upper right corner of the screen. 

The student portal feature of the Aspen student information system provides you with teacher pages and class resources, assignments and grades.

All students are issued an Aspen Student Portal Login ID and default password. If you did not receive your login information, please see your advisor. Your Login ID is the same as your network login (e.g. smithj23). 

If you forget your portal password, or your account is disabled, and you followed the directions for setting up your Security Preferences, you can use the “I forgot my password” link on the login screen to have a temporary password emailed directly to you.

  • Click "I forgot my password" on the login screen.

  • On the Password Reset screen, type in your login and school email

  • Answer your security question

  • Submit

  • A password reset will be sent to your email address. Check your spam folder if you don't receive it.

If the above steps fail to reset your password, you should send an email to familyportal@portsmouthschoolsri.org from your school email address explaining the issue.

Acceptable Use Guidelines & Participation Form

By using the Login ID to log in to Aspen, you agree to the following terms:

Portsmouth School Department is offering the Student Portal as a means to further enhance communication with students and to further promote educational excellence. The Student Portal allows students to view their own school records anywhere, anytime. In response for the privilege of accessing the site, every student is expected to act in a responsible, ethical and legal manner. The Student Portal is available to every student enrolled in Portsmouth High School. Students are required to adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Students will not share their password with anyone.

  2. Students will not attempt to harm or destroy data of their own, another user, school or district network or the Internet.

  3. Students will not use the Student Portal for any illegal activity, including violation of Data Privacy laws.

  4. Anyone found to be violating laws will be subject to civil and/or criminal prosecution.

  5. Students will not access data or any account owned by another student. Students who identify a security problem with the Student Portal must notify familyportal@portsmouthschoolsri.org without demonstrating the problem to anyone else.

  6. Students who are identified as a security risk to the Student Portal or any other Portsmouth School Department systems, computers or networks, will be denied access to the Student Portal.

  7. Students are expected to consider that teachers are afforded a 10 school day time period from the end assignment date before posting the grade.

I understand that if I violate any terms of these guidelines that I may lose my privilege to use Student Portal, and may be liable for civil and/or criminal consequences.

Change Your Password

  • To log in to Aspen, please click the Aspen icon in the upper right corner of the screen. 

    Your Login ID is the same as your network login (e.g. smithj23). Your default password is your first and last initial and your student ID number (e.g. js231234).

    The first time you login, you will be notified that “Your password has expired. Please create a new one.”

    You must adhere to the following requirements for new passwords:

    • Minimum length is 7

    • At least one number

    • Can't contain 'password', login name, first name, middle name, last name, date of birth, personal id, or only sequential letters or numbers

Set Your Preferences

  • This is very important. Please set your Preferences. This allows the system to send you an email with a temporary password should you forget your password.

    Go to the top right hand corner of the window, click on your name, then click on “Set Preferences”

    • Click on the "Security" Tab at the top

    • Primary Email: Input your school email address

    • Google Docs email: Click "Add Access" and follow the prompts

    • Confirm your “Security Question” 

    • Click "OK"
