Principal's Message

Connecting home and school makes us a great community of learners!

"…And each agreed they would have failed, if either had worked alone. For behind the parents stood the school, And behind the teacher, the home."

- Excerpt from "Two Sculptors"

Whether you and your child are just beginning your educational journey, are entering a transitional year to prepare for the upper elementary school, or find yourselves somewhere in between, we are excited to be a part of these formative educational years! In partnership with families and community, the mission of Hathaway Elementary School is to provide all students with a strong academic foundation through diverse and challenging instruction in a safe and nurturing environment enabling them to achieve their greatest potential while developing self-confidence, respect, responsibility, compassion and a love of learning. These are very important and exciting years for both you and your child. It is important that home and school provide the structure and learning environment for each child to learn and grow on the quest to become active learners. Welcome to the journey!

At Hathaway School we believe in creating strong and safe learning environments. Students in grades K, 1 and 2 are housed on the first floor of the building. Students in grades 3 and 4 are housed on the second floor of the building. All subjects in the curriculum are oriented toward the development of basic academic skills. The reading and writing program for all students is Wonders. Abound Parenting App is offered to all parents in grades K-4. The math program for all students in grades K-4 is Eureka. It is supplemented by a wide range of materials based on the Common Core State Standards. Social Studies and Science are included in the elementary curriculum.

Unified Arts classes for students consist of art, music, PE, health and library. In addition to the classroom, field trips are part of the learning experience. It is our goal that all of these learning opportunities and more will help your child to learn and grow on his or her journey here at Hathaway School.
