To develop innovative thinkers who work collaboratively through the design process to solve real world problems by drawing from and integrating the multiple disciplines of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) and utilizing 21st century skills.
MAKERSPACE-WHAT IS IT? WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO OUR STUDENTS?
What is a makerspace exactly? A makerspace is a space/place inside the school, designated to foster learning, exploring, sharing and creativity. It’s more of a maker mindset of creating something out of nothing and exploring your own interests that’s at the core of the makerspace. The makerspace helps prepare students with critical 21st century skills in the fields of science, technology, art, engineering, and math (STEAM). Students put on creative thinking caps, work collaboratively as a team to solve problems and develop critical thinking skills. Some of the skills that are learned in a makerspace pertain to electronics, coding, robotics, sewing and green screen reporting.
