Health Education is an exciting subject for elementary students. They are enthusiastic about learning how their bodies work and how to stay healthy. Health lessons are done weekly on a pre-set rotating schedule throughout the year by the School Nurse Teacher, Christine Vuolo-Fecteau M.Ed., RN, and PE/Health teacher, Risha Pellegrino. Health educators collaborate on the monthly health topic. We utilize The Great Body Shop curriculum. Each month students receive their own issue of the the Great Body Shop. Each issue will present an appropriate level of knowledge about the topic, relevant vocabulary, games, and other valuable information to help build critical thinking skills and promote behaviors that relate to health goals. A Family Bulletin is included on the back of each issue. It includes at home discussion suggestions, activities, and further reading suggestions on that month's topic. For more information on student health lessons go to the Health Curriculum tab for a schedule of health topics and content areas by grade level.
